Playing a part in giving every child a good start in life
Meet Kai Xin* and his family
Initially, Kai Xin's parents felt unsure of themselves as first-time parents despite wanting the best for their son. It was a struggle, and they often felt frustrated having to balance the responsibility of earning an income and spending quality time with Kai Xin.
After joining KidSTART, a programme which works with lower-income families with young children, Kai Xin's parents felt supported in their parenting journey, and gained valuable knowledge on how to help him learn and grow up well.

Every parent wants the best for their child but some parents are unsure of how they can do so. This is where KidSTART's support comes in.
KidSTART partners with parents to equip them with the knowledge to:
Build nurturing relationships with their children
Support their children's age-appropriate development
Care for the health and social well-being of their children

Regular contributions and volunteering efforts can help ensure that no child gets left behind.
Your donations will contribute towards:
1. Supporting learning and development of children through welcome/learning packs and learning journeys
2. Supporting health & nutrition of children through fresh produce packs
3. Supporting other areas of early childhood development such as hygiene products and child safety equipment
For $50, you can support a family with 2 bags of fresh food produce delivered within 2 months
For $100, you can support a family with a prenatal or welcome pack consisting of essential items for mother and child such as a baby rattle, thermometer, and weaning set.
Volunteer your time with KidSTART:
1. Be A KidSTART Volunteer Ambassador by engaging eligible families and members of public about KidSTART and its benefits and/or conduct surveys with KidSTART families
2. Be an Event Helper by supporting KidSTART Events in various roles such as registration, ushers and booth duty etc.
3. Be a helping hand for packing and delivering essential items.

We support and empower eligible pregnant mothers and lower-income families with children 6 years old and below. We collaborate with partner hospitals for antenatal support. For eligible families with small children, our support is carried out via home visits. We also encourage early enrolment into preschools and connect families through community-based events and initiatives.
Since the pilot in 2016, KidSTART has benefitted more than 10,000 children. An evaluation study on KidSTART had shown that families who were supported with home visitation had more positive, quality parent-child interactions; and were more confident in supporting their children's development. Furthermore, by age 3, the KidSTART children showed improved social-emotional development.
