Mr Lam

AWWA has empowered Mr Lam with a renewed sense of independence, belonging, and purpose.

86-year-old Mr Lam dedicated a lifetime to working as a car mechanic, tirelessly supporting his 10 younger siblings. Upon his forced retirement, the bachelor led a modest life, living in a rented room until his landlord’s demise left him homeless. With his savings dwindling rapidly, Mr Lam found himself overcome with helplessness.

He was then connected with AWWA, a non-profit organisation supported by Community Chest. Today, Mr Lam is a resident at AWWA’s Senior Community Home (SCH). Beyond providing shelter, AWWA has afforded Mr Lam a community filled with warmth and laughter. He particularly enjoys the companionship of volunteers and actively participates in activities. Most notably, AWWA has empowered him with a renewed sense of independence, belonging, and purpose.
